KARR is back.
During our latest livestream, we officially launched our 1/6 scale KARR and shared several new updates on both KARR and KITT.
Joining Joost were Joe Huth from Knight Rider Historians, Jazzinc product designer Andy, and Barry from Factory Entertainment.
The livestream also opened with a tribute to Peter Cullen, who originally voiced KARR in the 1982 episode Trust Doesn’t Rust.
KARR Version
Our KARR is mainly based on the Season 3 episode KITT vs. KARR.
Key differences from KITT include:
- Black and silver two-tone paint
- Amber scanner
- Different front bumper setup
- Two sets of fog lights instead of three
- No fog light grilles
- No tow bar
- Different license plate
- Different voice box
- Different upper and lower consoles
- Updated dashboard and monitor configuration
Both Original KARR Voices
KARR will include both original English voices:
- Peter Cullen from Trust Doesn’t Rust
- Paul Frees from KITT vs. KARR
The audio will be sourced from original archive material.
We are also looking into USB-C support for custom audio, but this is not confirmed yet.
Free Engine Upgrade
Both KITT and KARR will now include a fully detailed engine bay at no extra cost.
The engine bay is based on:
- Original vehicle reference
- Measurements and photos from Joe Huth
- Footage from the series
- The actual Trans Am engine layout
The engine, hoses, wiring and surrounding structure are all being recreated in detail.
Accuracy Updates
Recent development work includes:
- Refining the front bumper “smile”
- Correcting wheel and hubcap proportions
- Recreating the correct tyre tread
- Adjusting tyre shape
- Improving seat positioning
- Matching original interior materials
- Correcting dashboard logos
- Adding accurate screw details
- Including the famous “white wire” in KITT
Interior Updates
The cockpit has received extensive revisions.
Updates include:
- Dashboard shape
- Voice box
- Monitors
- Upper console
- Lower console
- Steering wheel details
- Seat shape and positioning
- Interior materials
Electronics and Scanner
KITT and KARR will use custom electronics.
Current development includes:
- Correct scanner speed
- Scanner trailing/fade effect
- Dashboard lighting
- Possible dashboard start-up sequence
Joe Huth will continue helping us match the original scanner effect.
Fixed T-Tops
The T-tops will not be removable.
This gives the roof:
- More strength
- Better long-term stability
- Better accuracy
- Less risk during shipping
Still Being Investigated
These features are not confirmed yet:
- Opening rear hatch
- USB-C custom audio
- Additional display accessories
- Final remote design
- Knight Rider theme music
Michael Knight Figure
Current status:
- Costume fully approved
- Body complete
- Head sculpt still in approvals
- No pre-order date yet
KITT Prototype V2
A second KITT prototype is now in development.
It will include:
- Updated interior
- Revised dashboard
- Improved materials
- Accuracy corrections
- Feedback from collectors
More will be shown once Prototype V2 is ready.
