From an Impossible Idea to an Unforgettable SDCC: Jazzinc Joins Collectors Assemble Live
Less than six months before San Diego Comic-Con 2026, exhibiting at the world’s biggest pop-culture convention still seemed impossible for Jazzinc. In this special episode of Collectors Assemble Live, hosted by Miguel from ToyQuest101, Joost joins an international panel of collectors to look back on the extraordinary journey that took our family, team and creations all the way from the Netherlands to San Diego.

During the nearly three-hour conversation, Joost shares how a collaboration with Factory Entertainment unexpectedly opened the door to SDCC—and why accepting that opportunity required a true family decision.
What followed was an intense race against time. KITT had only recently been scanned, prototypes had to be rebuilt, new figures and displays were pushed forward, and parts of the 1989 Bat-Vault were still being completed on the day designer Andy (Manoloff - DoggyDocDesigns) left for San Diego. The first KITT prototype did not even arrive at the hotel until the Tuesday before the show.
Somehow, everything came together just in time.
The livestream offers a fascinating look behind the scenes, from building and powering the booth to deciding how to present KITT, the Tumbler, the 1989 Batcomputer, the Bat-Vault and a cabinet filled with new and final-production figures.
But the products are only part of the story.
Joost describes the extraordinary energy that emerged when thousands of people with a shared passion came together. After years of communicating largely through websites, videos, livestreams and social media, meeting collectors face-to-face—and watching their reactions as they experienced our work in person—was incredibly moving.
Miguel recalls stepping back for a moment and watching Joost smile as visitors entered the booth. Some already knew Jazzinc, while others discovered us for the first time, but almost everyone stopped, asked questions and wanted to learn more about how the pieces were created.
The panel also discusses something that photographs can never fully capture: the emotional connection created when collectors meet the artists and hear the stories behind their work. Listening to Andy explain the research behind the 1989 Batcomputer, hearing Sean (Dabbs) talk about his sculpts and experiencing the team’s passion firsthand gave the pieces an entirely new dimension.
Along the way, Joost shares the story of how Jazzinc began as a collector’s personal hobby, grew into a father-and-son garage project and eventually became an officially licensed company creating vehicles, figures and environments for collectors around the world.
The conversation also covers the enthusiastic reception of our final-production Catwoman, the new relationships formed at Comic-Con and some of the possibilities we hope to explore in the future. As always, future projects depend on licensing, development and community support—but SDCC opened doors we could previously only dream about.
Most importantly, this episode captures what made our first Comic-Con so special: the people, the positivity and the shared love for this hobby.
